Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina clarified that she did not refer to the students as "Razakars"; her statement was misinterpreted. She made this clarification during a visit to the damaged Bangladesh Television (BTV) building on Friday morning (July 26).
Sheikh Hasina also mentioned that the students seem more antagonistic towards the liberation war and the families of freedom fighters. She questioned the prolonged protests over her statement, emphasizing that her words were distorted. She referred to the students' slogan, “Who are you, who am I, Razakar Razakar. Your father, my father - Razakar Razakar.” According to her, this slogan suggests that the students labeled themselves as Razakars. She reiterated that she did not call them Razakars; instead, they identified themselves as such through their slogans.
