Military Curfew to Suppress Movements: A Gross Failure of Government

Using such extreme force to suppress a movement, killing hundreds of people, imposing a curfew that brought down the army... this has proved the utter failure of the government.

"The government has shut down the internet so that people don't know the truth. Not only common people have suffered, but business has suffered a lot. You have seen, a video was made and shown at the meeting of the businessmen, in which there is a complete lie.

The quota reform movement still has BNP's support. Not only the quota, the other demands that are there must be fulfilled by the government.

Mirza Alamgir remarked, “I see their (the government’s) attempt to eliminate politics in every election. They decide the candidates, even for the so-called opposition parties. They also arrange dummy candidates and fix their seats.”

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir addressed a press conference after a six-month hiatus. His last press conference was held on October 27. On October 28 of last year, a BNP rally in Dhaka was disrupted by a police and Awami League attack. Alamgir was arrested that day and remained in prison for approximately three and a half months until he was released on bail on February 15. Following his release, he traveled to Singapore for medical treatment. He returned home after performing the holy Umrah last week. Subsequently, he addressed a youth party rally in Nayapaltan, Dhaka yesterday. Today, Mirza Fakhrul held a press conference.

The biggest problem of this government is that they have no relationship with the people. They have no accountability to the people. That's why they never understand the language of people's eyes and mind."
