Hundreds of innocent students were shot like birds and massacred, countrymen witnessed

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that BNP, opposition parties and innocent leaders and activists are being arrested as a tactic to cover up state terrorism and to put Udo Pindi Budho on their necks. He said this in a statement sent to the media on Thursday.

BNP

Mirza Fakhrul said that BNP and opposition parties and people of opinion are still being arbitrarily arrested around the country's reasonable movement of students demanding anti-discrimination quota reforms. BNP's national executive committee's health affairs secretary Dr. Rafiqul Islam, executive committee member Tariqul Islam Tenzing and son of BNP vice chairman Barkat Ullah Bulu (who is not involved in politics) arrested Saniyat and picked up Bangladesh National Party (BJP) chairman and former member of parliament Barrister Andalib Rahman Partha from his home at 1am last night. Law and order forces have gone.

Mirza Fakhrul strongly condemned and protested the inhuman incident of arresting the leaders and workers of opposition parties including BNP for the past few days centered on the students' movement.

In a statement, BNP Secretary General said that to hide the state terror and to put Udo Pindi Budho on the shoulders of innocent BNP leaders and workers, raiding their houses and arresting them or not finding the leaders and workers at home, arresting their children or family members and vandalizing the house furniture with indecent behavior. Some members of the government and the law enforcement agencies are blaming BNP and opposition party leaders for falsely accusing them of playing a role in the movement. If so, why were they not arrested on the spot? That is the question of the people.

Mirza Fakhrul said, it proves that neither BNP nor opposition parties are involved in the movement. Hundreds of innocent students were killed by government party terrorists and members of the law enforcement agencies while the Judicial Inquiry Committee at the behest of the government will investigate the killings of only six people, which is tantamount to covering up the entire murder. So the people demanded an international investigation into the whole incident and the killings. Otherwise, people feel that the government should resign immediately, taking full responsibility for the failure. My condolences to the police and Ansar members who were killed in the anti-quota agitation, my deepest condolences to the bereaved souls and their families.

Mirza Fakhrul also said that the Ministry of Home Affairs has given Tk 2 lakh in cash and Tk 8 lakh as savings certificates for the killed policemen and Ansar members. While hundreds of innocent and tender students were shot like birds and massacred which the countrymen witnessed, I call for exemplary punishment by bringing those involved in this killing to justice. Besides, we demand proper compensation to the families of the victims.

At the same time, Mirza Fakhrul was arrested without any crime. Rafiqul Islam, executive committee member Tariqul Islam Tenzing and BNP vice chairman Barkat Ullah Bulu's son Saniyat called for withdrawal of politically motivated false cases and their immediate unconditional release.
