The border killing victim, Raju Islam, a 28-year-old Bangladesh national, was the son of Habib Ali from Gariali village, Boro Palashbari union, in Thakurgaon early Friday,
Firoz Kabir, the officer-in-charge of Baliadangi police station, confirmed that Raju allegedly crossed into Indian territory through the Nagarbhita border early this morning to smuggle cattle. Upon spotting him, the BSF opened fire in the Tingaon area, killing him on the spot.
Lieutenant Colonel Md Tanjir Ahmed, commandant of the Border Guard Bangladesh-50 Battalion in Thakurgaon, stated that they were aware of the incident and had requested a flag meeting with local BSF commanders. Further details will be known after the meeting, he added.
