Awami League Leader Orders Arson Over 4 Lakh Taka Contract Dispute: 4 BRTC Buses Set on Fire

Chittagong, [July 25, 2024] — In a shocking incident, four buses belonging to the Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) were set on fire in Chittagong. The arson attack was reportedly carried out under the orders of a Sramik League leader.

On Saturday night, miscreants set fire to the BRTC bus depot in Nahunpara, Hathazari, Chittagong. Two buses of the depot were gutted in the fire. At the same time, two other buses were heavily damaged.



After arresting Sohail, he said that the fire was set on Didarul Alam's orders and for the greed of Tk 4 lakh.



The detained Didarul Alam is the son of Mahbubul Alam of Chikondandi Union of Hathazari Upazila. And Sohel Rana is the son of deceased Ashraf Ali of Joypurhat. Didar was once a contractor of BRTC.



After the fire, police and BRTC authorities collected CCTV footage and reviewed it. It can be seen that a young man named Sohail is setting fire. Later, when he was arrested, he confessed to setting the fire. He was then handed over to the police. The detained Sohail admitted to the police that he had set the depot bus on fire for a contract of Tk 4 lakh on Didar's orders.
