The agitating students and job aspirants have been protesting and blocking roads for several days with four-point demands including canceling the quota system in government jobs and reinstating the circular issued by the government in 2018.
Around 4:40 PM, students and job aspirants united under the banner of 'anti-discrimination student movement' blocked the road at Shahbag intersection. Due to the blockade, all types of traffic stopped on the road at Shahbagh junction and severe traffic jam was created on the surrounding roads
Before lifting the blockade, Nahid Islam, the coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement, said that the 'Bangla Blockade' program has been announced from three o'clock tomorrow afternoon. Not only at Shahbag Mor, students of universities and colleges will come down and make the program successful at every point including Shahbagh and Dhaka City Science Lab, Chankhanarpool, Neelkhet, Motijheel. Students will block the highways at the district and university levels outside Dhaka
At this time, Nahid Islam also said that the government is acting irresponsibly by making the students and the court stand face to face The executive department cannot avoid its responsibility In 2018, the Prime Minister said, there will be no quota So why did the quota come back? Why is the farce with the students? We will carry out programs like hartal if necessary to realize the demands It is not just a student movement Teachers and parents should also come down in the movement.
Pointing out that the student strike and class-examination boycott program has already received a massive response, Nahid further said, "Even if the teachers return to the classes, we will not return to the classes until the demands are met." Anti-quota activists announce 'Bangla Blockade'

Before this, a procession was taken out under the banner of 'anti-discrimination student movement' in front of the Dhaka University library around 3:30 pm. The procession circumambulated the shadow and mall area of the campus, passed in front of Masterda' Suryasen Hall and Haji Muhammad Mohsin Hall, passed Smriti Chirantan Chatwar, TSC and Bakshi Bazar, passed through BUET campus, passed around Palashi and Azimpur areas and again stopped at Shahbagh intersection inside the Dhaka University campus.
A large number of policemen were stationed in front of the National Museum even before the procession reached Shahbagh At that time, a part of the agitators were also waiting for the procession on the road in front of the museum As the procession arrived in front of the Faculty of Fine Arts, the waiting students blocked Shahbagh intersection at 4:37 PM. Just before this, the policemen took position on the road of Shahbagh But they did not stop the agitating students Within five minutes the main procession joined the besiegers at Shahbagh intersection. After that they held a blockade program for 50 minutes with different slogans.
