63 Crore Loss of Farmers Due to Floods: An Invisible Crisis

The farmers of Sirajganj have suffered a loss of Tk 62 crore 78 lakh 3 thousand 126 due to three weeks of flood. They are facing loss as jute, til, potal, aush, aman, bijtala, brinjal and other crops are destroyed in the flood water.

According to the sources of Sirajganj Agricultural Extension Directorate on Thursday afternoon - 37 thousand 46 farmers have been affected by this flood in Sadar, Kazipur, Belkuchi, Chauhali and Shahjadpur upazilas of the district. The crops of 6 thousand 525 hectares of the district were submerged in water. Out of this, 3 thousand 185.1 hectares of crop land was completely destroyed. The amount of damage to these crops is 62 crore 78 lakh 3 thousand 126 taka.


Mobzel Hossain of Natuarpara area of ​​affected Kazir upazila said, I cultivated brinjal on two bigha land. Everything rotted away in the flood waters. Now I am worried about how the family will run.
