Two Army Officers Serving in the RAB Recalled Before UN Peacekeeping Mission.
The names of at least two army officers who have served or are serving in the elite Force Rapid Action Battalion RAB have recently been delisted just before they were to leave for a UN peacekeeping mission. Four sources confirmed the information.

According to responsible sources, the army officers were withdrawn from their respective units to be sent on peacekeeping missions, but later they were sent back to their respective units without being sent on missions. One of them is Lieutenant Colonel Moshiur Rahman Jewel. He served as RAB-7 captain and RAB intelligence chief. 45 Long Course officer Moshiur Rahman returned to the army some time ago. He was last working in Bogra Cantonment. The other is Lt. Col. Mahbubul Alam, the current RAB 7 captain. He is Moshiur Rahman's course mate. But he got commission in 46 BMA long course.
US sanctions on Bangladesh's RAB
The US State Department linked the current Inspector General of Police (IGP) and former RAB director general (DG) Benazir Ahmed, as well as former RAB-7 commanding officer Lt. Col. Miftah Uddin Ahmed, to the "extrajudicial" killing of Teknaf Municipality councillor Ekramul Haque during an anti-drug drive in May 2018.

Established in 2003 with the support of the US and UK as a counterterrorism force, the RAB has over the years morphed into a political death squad. The US imposed sanctions on the Rapid Action Battalion and seven of its former and current officials over human rights violations.
